Release on research results

Press releases on research results should be made prior to the publication of the paper.

If your paper is to be published in a prominent scientific journal, etc., please contact the Communications Division of the General Affairs Department first.

Release via web, fax and e-mail

This is the most common release method used by the university. For more information, please click here. (Please note that the procedures and forms have changed since September 26, 2023.)

(1) Press release application

Please send your paper (latest version) and a summary of your research findings to the Communications Division of the General Affairs Department at ppr-kouhoushitsu@office.kobe-u.ac.jp.

* Please contact us at least two weeks prior to the publication of your paper so that we can distribute it at the most appropriate time.

* Please keep your abstract to about one-third of an A4 sheet of paper, using language at the level of high school students.

In addition, please provide the following information:

 1. Date and time of publication or current status of the publication process

If you have not heard from the publisher regarding the date and time of publication, please tell them that you will issue a press release and that you would like to hear from them as soon as the publication time is confirmed.

 2. Joint release or not

In the case of a joint release, we will coordinate the distribution destination, date and time, etc. with the public relations representatives of the partner organizations before the release. Please provide us with the contact information of the persons in charge.

(2) Drafting

(For domestic releases) Please create a draft using the template provided by the Communications Division.

The Communications Division will check the draft and adjust the wording for the media.

(For international releases) Please respond to the questions we will send you and cooperate with our request for photos and images.

Our science communicators will prepare a draft in English.

(3) Adjustment of the release date

Finalize the release date in coordination with the researcher’s schedule.

Please arrange your schedule so that you can respond to inquiries from the media.

* It is desirable to distribute the press release one week (two or three days at the latest) prior to the publication of the paper.

(4) Press release

(For domestic releases) We will distribute by fax or e-mail to the following destinations.

Members of the Hyogo Prefecture Education Press Club (Kobe Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Sankei Shimbun, Jiji Press, Kyodo News, NHK, Radio Kansai), Members of the Kobe City Broadcasting Press Club (Mainichi Broadcasting System, Asahi Broadcasting, Kansai Television, Yomiuri Television, Sun TV), Nikkei Shimbun, Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Members of the Osaka Science and University Press Club

(For international releases) We will distribute via the news distribution platforms "EurekAlert!" and "Alpha Galileo.

Please respond to inquiries from the media.

(5) After the embargo

After the release date, the press release will be posted on the Kobe University Research News website.

We will also announce the release on our official Japanese-English social media channels (SNS). If possible, we would appreciate your cooperation in sharing the post on your personal account. 

Press conference at the university

In cases where the news is extremely newsworthy and a large number of inquiries are expected, or in cases such as the Graduate School of Medicine press conferences, press conferences will be held at the respective relevant locations. Please consult with the Communications Division in advance. Television coverage is also expected, so a large space such as the large conference room on the 6th floor of the headquarters is necessary.

Presentation at a MEXT press conference

For matters that will have a significant impact on society, announcements can be made at the MEXT Press Club. Please contact the Communications Division. The Communications Division will contact the organizers of the MEXT press conference to arrange the schedule. Presentation materials will be decided in consultation with the organizers of the MEXT press conference.

Release on symposia and events

(1) Drafting

Please fill out the template below with an outline and required information. If you have flyers or other materials, please send them along with your draft.

(2) Adjustment of the release date

We will coordinate the final release date together with you.
